Multi application smart device
strategy
Faced with commoditisation of its product lines, a global bank saw
multi-application smart devices as a potential source of
additional revenues. The challenge was finding out how customers
and business partners would respond to this novel offering. We
helped the bank develop compelling propositions based on our
understanding of smart technologies. The viability and propensity
to pay for these propositions were then tested with a cross
section of the banks' customer and business partner base. As a
result, Abakos Partners saved the bank millions of pounds by
demonstrating the case for modifying the initial product concept
to address the features desired by several profitable segments.
Establishing a sales zone for BT
BT Corporate Sales has several sales people that sold a variety of
telecoms products and services to FTSE500 companies. The challenge
was to help the team, based in various locations, design an online
tool to coordinate their activities and make documents and other
resources accessible to all. We identified critical
requirements via structured interviews and analysis that lead to
the development of the online "Saleszone".
As a result BT executives noticed a significant increase in sales
and improved morale as the team were better connected
Evaluating the technology for Mobile
Gaming
A well known online betting company saw emerging technologies like
SMS, MMS and 3G as a threat to its core business. The challenge
for Abakos Partners was to review the mobile gaming applications
that were being developed and identify the likely adoption rates
for various technologies. The research effort involved
interviewing several people that bet online & through other media,
games developers and some potential competitors. The outcome, a
research report identified key technologies that the online gaming
firm was to focus upon in developing new services and channels to
market. It also highlighted the customer segments & volumes to
make certain technologies viable. As a result the company
revised it mobile strategy. It has since been acquired, at a
premium, with its early dominance of the mobile gaming sector
being a key factor.
Navigating
the market for search technology
NavigationZone, a
technology transfer company from UCL, has developed and patented
an innovative way to search and navigating large pools of data
like the internet or an intranet site. To achieve commercial
success, NavigationZone needed to review its business strategy and
accelerate its market entry. Abakos Partners undertook a study of
the markets for search related technologies and worked with the
